"The Letter of James" - January 7, 14, 21 - Led by Dottie Fleming

January forecast: cold and snowy mornings with the warmth of the Letter of James led by Dottie Fleming!

Join us for three Sundays, January 7, 14 and 21, as Dottie Fleming leads us in a concentrated look at the Letter of James - the brother of our Lord.

The Lord Jesus Christ is mentioned by name only two times in the 107 verses and brief five chapters of this letter.  James' concentration is on Godly living in the wake of Christ's atoning sacrifice - simple advisories about speech, prayer, favoritism, and being discerning of the world's false witness.  Come join us for these humbling refreshers advising our behavior as disciples of Jesus!

"Bible Worldview" - January 28, February 4, 11, 18 - Led by Fred Carlson

These seven lessons on what the Bible says about itself are vastly important for Christians to understand regarding basic truth.  The Bible transcends denominational disputes: come see, hear, and study what the Reformers were re-invested in: New Testament truth-sola scripture.

Reviewing what the Bible itself says concerning the 7 Basic Truths of Christianity: God, human beings, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, salvation and damnation, and the devil; this set of lessons is a true soul refresher.

All the intersecting 7 truths support each biblical truth claim pointing to the redemptive work of the Messiah Jesus Christ we find within the Bible.

Barna surveys of the Christian church reports somewhere around 25% of Christians in the pews actually have a biblical worldview from where their lives and priorities are determined and their life path looks to the Bible for guidance.  Saint Alban's Anglican dedicates the teaching ministry for adults to combat this spiritual fatigue.

The Bible Worldview curriculum was created under the supervision of former Bishop Robert W. Duncan and his Biblical Literacy Task Force, of which Saint Alban's Fred Carlson was a member 2009 - 2016.

Each lesson is short and simple - lifting up the basic truths of the 7 topics listed above with supporting scripture and conclusions.  These lessons are easily memorized and should serve as a key addition to your Gospel outreach as a Christian.

"IN THE STEPS OF JESUS: The Gospel of Luke step by step" - February 25, March 4, 11, 18 - Led by Craig Huntington

This second series of lessons is from the Peter Walker book of the same title.  If you do not have the book and wish a copy, please contact Fred Carlson and we can order more from Trinity Bookstore in Ambridge.

In The Steps of Jesus - the series will resume Sunday, February 25, 2018.

We thank Craig Huntington for his previous work during October introducing the incredible book: In the Steps of Jesus.  We reviewed the first three 'settings' from the Gospel of Luke during October: Bethlehem, Nazareth, and the River Jordan.  The book includes a scripture study with strong theological commentary by Rev. Dr. Peter Walker, centered on the places Jesus walked and lived.  We know Rev. Walker from Trinity School for Ministry faculty, the use of his The Jesus Way book during Lent 4 years ago, and from his appearance preaching at Saint Alban's that spring.  The next 3 chapters of this book will be presented together by Craig, beginning on Sunday, February 25, 2018.

Church members are very welcome to buy this handsome volume.  Books are available from Trinity School for Ministry bookstore - $20 hardcover each - payable to Saint Alban's Anglican Church.  Fred Carlson can order the book for you - just let him know you are interested asap.

The Saint Alban's Anglican Adult Education Mission Statement:

Ephesians 4:11-14a "And He gave...teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine..."
